The Domain Liveable Brisbane study has revealed the #20 most popular lifestyle suburbs for millennials are all inner city or city fringe – with Milton topping the list, followed by nearby burbs like Petrie Terrace, Fortitude Valley and surrounds.
The study assessed 18 indicators to determine quality of life for residents, including access to cafes, schools, transport and employment, as well as airport noise, traffic congestion, the suburb’s crime rate, its walkability, open space and proximity to the coast or beach.
If you’re a millennial with cash to burn, then you might happily fork out $700+ a week for a worker’s cottage in Paddington, or even stretch yourself to buy into this city fringe suburb with a million-dollar-median house price.
Budget not quite that big? For the cash conscious home hunter, Albion shows up as a good value but often overlooked option. It offers the same easy access to the inner city without the Paddo price tag, but you’ll still pay a premium for inner city convenience.
So if you consider yourself more of a middle ring millennial – or at least your budget is – then our tips would be to check out the mini metropolis of Chermside for an affordable urban buzz, or the quickly gentrifying Stafford and surrounds for a hipster vibe without the West End cost.
