Rents across Australia have recorded their slowest rate of growth in four years and in Brisbane we’ve even seen a dip.

Tenants won’t feel it in the hip pocket yet as Brissie rents dipped just 0.1 per cent in July, reports 9news.com.au.

That’s not a huge drop but for tenants it’s a welcome relief from a price rise. Rents across Australia have risen 39.7 per cent in the past five years which equates to a median weekly rental rise of $180.

The slowing rental growth means some of the craziness has come out of the rental market for tenants.

While landlords, who’ve weathered a record rise in interest rates, are still seeing solid returns.

Check out weekly rental movements across Australia’s capital cities for the month of July:

  • Brisbane 0.1 per cent
  • Sydney 0.1 per cent
  • Hobart 0.3 per cent
  • Darwin 0 per cent
  • Canberra 0 per cent
  • Melbourne 0.3 per cent
  • Perth 0.3 per cent
  • Adelaide 0.6 per cent
