- Transform a sideboard into a pet bed. Keep your treasured knick-knacks on car key bowl on top. Hollow out the cupboard and drawer space underneath to create a pet friendly sleep nook. Add a cushion and spaced timber slats or dowel instead of solid sides and doors and you’ve got a very chic pet space.
- Switch out a kitchen cabinet to create a pet feeding station. In its simplest form, this becomes a space to keep the dog bowl and kibble. Got cash to splash? Build in bowl shelves, plumb in a tap, and finish with marble to match your benchtop.
- Borrow some design inspo from Harry Potter and turn that space under the stairs into a dog friendly retreat. Add a door, some easy-to-clean hard floors, plus your pet’s favourite dog bed and you’re done.
- Got serious cash to burn? Add a doggie wash station to your laundry or bathroom. Start with a space the size of a large cupboard, add a raised platform with a drain, plumb in your taps, tile it and add a slip proof mat. Add a bench to keep your favourite grooming products: doggie hair dryer, brush and accessories.
- Convert a cupboard, cabinet or shelf space into a discreet doggie door. This will take some carpentry expertise to carve a hole in your wall that turns your cupboard or shelf space into a secret getaway portal to the backyard. Just close the door, and it looks like a regular cupboard again. Great for the international dog of mystery.
