Even the notoriously secretive freemasons are joining the party, opening the doors of the Masonic Memorial Temple at Spring Hill.
It will be one of 100 properties taking part in the free public festival which celebrates Brisbane’s architecture by offering behind-the-scenes access to buildings which are usually shielded from public view.
Other buildings throwing open their doors include:
- Roma Street Fire Station which reportedly still has the traditional fire fighters pole
- The underground Spring Hill Service Reservoirs which provided fresh water to Brisbane from 1872 to 1962
- Several chic architects’ offices including Wilson Architects, Woods Bagot Studio and BVN studio.
The 7th annual Brisbane Open House will take place on 8-9 October 2016, but not every building is open both days so view the full open house list for details.
