Brighter Buying

This north Brissie suburb is a magnet for families

With country charm and urban amenity, plus affordability and growth prospects, it’s no wonder experts are watching Petrie as a hot spot for 2024.

Families are flocking to the burgeoning suburb, which is home to its own rail line and the new University of the Sunshine Coast campus.

Adding to the appeal is a median house price of $695,000 and median unit price of $420,000, reports realestate.com.au.

So what’s the catch? Distance from the CBD has kept this hidden gem perhaps too well hidden for those seeking a closer commute.

But working back along the northern growth corridor presents buyers with a range of options for just about every family lifestyle and budget.

For modern family living, homes in Aspley are hard to beat, with proximity to great schools, recreation facilities and family friendly neighbourhoods. Spanning north along the rail line value hunters should check out suburbs like Zillmere and Deagon. Those wanting a lifestyle suburb will find it hard to go past the bayside beauty of Sandgate.

Closer to the CBD again, Chermside West is a good value option with green spaces aplenty and the convenience of the revamped Rode Centre shops. Neighbouring McDowall offers much the same amenity with larger brick homes for bigger budget buyers.
