Yep, we’re talking about the Queenslander.
It’s an icon of the Brisbane market and, according to recent Domain data, the third most searched-for house type in Australia.
You’ll find them dotted in prolific numbers throughout hillly inner-city-suburbs like Paddington and Red Hill. But you’ll also find some great examples reaching south into northern New South Wales and up to far north Queensland.
The appeal of the wrap around veranda in our subtropical climate has ensured the Queenslander has endured even as other styles have come and gone.
These days if you want a Queenslander without the drafty floorboards, you can explore newer-build replica Queenslander options, or take your pick from the many, many Queenslanders that have been lovingly and often lavishly restored.
In Domain’s list of the top search terms, the Australian-borne Queenslander topped imported property styles including Edwardian and Victorian homes.
Top of the list was were Terrace homes (how very southern capital), and the humble cottage which came in at number two.
