Olympic suburbs set to sprint as fast as Gout Gout

2023 Olympic Venues
by Kate Watt, Marketing Manager 15 May 2025

Brisbane sprinting sensation Gout Gout isn’t the only local wonder tipped for Olympic success in 2032.

A swag of Brissie burbs are tipped to earn investor property gold now that plans for the Olympic venues are confirmed.

Gone is the proposed redevelopment of The Gabba stadium in preference of a new stadium here on the north side at Victoria Park.

Spring Hill is in for an aquatic centre revamp.

The RNA Ekka Showgrounds is earmarked for the Athlete’s Village.

These venues and more have caused a flurry of excitement amongst those interested in cashing in on Olympics-fuelled price growth.

Real Estate Institute of Queensland chief executive Antonia Mercorella told the ABC that suburbs neighbouring Olympic infrastructure were expected to benefit.

“Inevitably people will see this as a great marketing opportunity,” she said.

“Although we know that the games are still several years away, there is an assumption we will see property prices rise in those key locations.

“We believe it is likely that property prices will grow now, partly due to the Olympic games, but also because of other fundamentally important factors.”

Some of the most hotly watched burbs on the north side include:

  • Bowen Hills
  • Fortitude Valley
  • Herston
  • Kangaroo Point
  • Kelvin Grove
  • Spring Hill
