by Kate Watt, Marketing Manager 10 January 2024

We’ve been reading the property market predictions for 2024 so you don’t have to. Here’s what the experts are forecasting for the year ahead.

Will it be a good year for property price growth?

Hotspotting founder Terry Ryder says so: “Just as 2023 defied the forecasts of economists and news media, delivering solid price growth in most jurisdictions, 2024 will do better than the pessimistic predictions that emerged late in 2023,” reports The Property Tribune.

Will interest rates drop?

At the end of last year the big banks were tipping the Reserve Bank of Australia would likely drop interest rates later in 2024. CoreLogic research director Tim Lawless tells The Guardian there is growing speculation of cuts in the second half of this year.

Will renters have a better year ahead?

Renters are unlikely to see any major relief in 2024 as high rents in capital cities are expected to continue reports news.com.au.

Where will investors find the most affordable buying?

Brisbane and Perth are tipped as the capital cities for value hunters in 2024, Kent Lardner, founder of suburbtrends.com.au told news.com.au.

Will the tree change and sea change trend continue?

The experts are agreed we’ll continue to see a reversal of the mass exodus from the cities we saw during the pandemic, says news.com.au. In fact some beachside markets are seeing holiday homes put up for sale as interest rates pinch and travel returns to normal.
