Green revolution boosts Brissie wow factor and property values

As the world prepares to mark Earth Hour on March 27, Brissie is making its own debut on the global stage with some green-themed makeovers set to add a touch of international sophistication to our sub-tropical city.

Chief amongst Brisbane’s raft of new green infrastructure is the Victoria Park makeover here on the north side.

This prime site of 26 hectares is bounded by QUT at Kelvin Grove and the Royal Brisbane Hospital. Better known as a golf course it’s set for a massive transformation that has seen it dubbed ‘Brisbane’s answer to Central Park in New York’.

We think it’s a little more like Singapore’s Marina Bay parklands given it will feature water ways, a canopy walk and cycle paths as well as lots of shady trees.

But it’s not just our parkland getting a makeover. Our rivers are getting some love too.

A new ‘green bridge’ is planned for Kangaroo Point – giving access to the CBD for pedestrians and cyclists.

Here on the north side the Breakfast Creek Green Bridge will improve links from the CBD to the northern suburbs.

So what will these green improvements to do amenity and property values in Brisbane? Coupled with already strong population growth they can only enhance the lifestyle appeal and demand for a piece of our unique river city.

“Brisbane has been earmarked to develop into a new world city over the short term,” Property Update reports.

“All these projects are designed to keep up with demand from local communities for a focus on convenience and green space as Brisbane gets busier.”
