- Limit your trades. If you need a lot of tradies you’re going to struggle to line them all up pre-Christmas. Calling in one or two might still be possible this time of year, so be selective on what you’ll do DIY and where you’ll need a pro.
- Use products like tile paint or wallpaper to give bathrooms or other tile areas an instant lift. This removes the need for a tiler, which can be hard to come by at the best of times. And it is definitely a job you can fit in on a weekend around your busy end-of-year schedule.
- Depending on your DIY prowess, replacing tapware can also give a bathroom and kitchen an instant lift. These rooms are in heavy use over the festive season, so any uplift here will be time well spent.
- If you’re updating furniture, stick to local suppliers. Ordering times online can blow out at this time of year. You don’t want to be hosting Christmas lunch while still waiting for that new 12 seater table to be shipped from China.
