House prices in the West End State School catchment zone jumped a whopping 41.7 per cent over a 12 month period, Domain reported last year.
Catchment zones for Kimberley Park State School in Shailer Park and Oakleigh State School in Ashgrove also outpaced median price growth compared to their suburb.
But it’s not just houses in elite school catchments that attract a premium.
“…it does not matter what price-point you’re purchasing at, you place a priority on education because we all want our kids to go to the best school,” said Domain senior research analyst Dr Nicola Powell.

Nearby schools will often be listed with properties for sale online to help you start your research. These might include schools outside your catchment so it pays to check against the official government map.
