That can be a challenge if you have a larger family or need a home office space.
Larger homes in middle or inner ring areas can therefore command a premium.
So if you need space, it pays to know where you can find the cheapest four bedroom homes near the city.
A recent analysis by realestate.com.au has uncovered the suburbs you should look at if you want a four bedroom home less than 11 kilometres from Brisbane city.
Here they are!
Chermside West – This is a great family friendly burb known for its leafy outlook, parks, bike tracks and nature reserves. It has a revamped shopping centre with café and dining options, as well proximity to transport hubs, the hospital and bus links to the city. Add a bunch of great schools and you have a suburb that’s hard to beat.
Mitchelton – This is a popular northside hot spot, offering a curious mix of old new. Take for example the trendy Blackwood Street café precinct and old school Brookside shopping centre. You’ll also find a mix of new builds on splitter blocks amongst older style housing. Add parks, schools and two railway stations and you have another winner.
Everton Park – This burb is hard to beat for budget buyers. It has a mix of housing with different price points, ranging from new townhouses and apartments to older style post war cottages. It has a thriving suburban centre with shops, dining, bars and fast eats. Add more schools and bus links to the city and you round out the list of good value buying for the four-bed-seeker.
