But new analysis shows that more than a third of Brissie suburbs are still classed as ‘affordable’ based on having a median house value less than the national median.
To be exact, 39 per cent of Greater Brisbane suburbs have a median house price under $792,000, according to PropTrack data reported by realestate.com.au.
So where are the bargain burbs?
If a house is what you want, then moving to the outer ring suburbs will give you the best bang for your buck.
But you may not have to move as far out as you think.
Suburbs like Zillmere offer great value houses for under $800,000 with proximity to rail, shops, schools and parks. Bracken Ridge and Bald Hills are also known for good value houses.
If a unit is more your style you could take your pick of suburbs in the middle and even inner ring. Chermside units are still selling for under $500,000.
