More than 20 Brisbane suburbs cracked the million-dollar-median club last year and property commentators think it’s likely we’ll reach a city-wide median price of $1 million next year.

It seems we have the perfect recipe for property price growth:

  • A steady flow of people moving to Brisbane from interstate or overseas
  • The excitement of the pending Olympic games
  • Significant government infrastructure spending.

All that combined with our relative affordability to Sydney for example, is making Brissie property hot property.

It seems our days in the slow lane are behind us, according to Domain chief of research and economics Dr Nicola Powell.

“The boom Brisbane saw during the pandemic was one of those once-in-a-generation property booms … and now the market is gathering momentum and we’re starting to see rising competition,” Dr Powell told Domain.

“When you compare it to 10 years ago, the market was just plodding along. In fact, we had heightened unit supply for a long time, and prices were sluggish.

“But what we ended up getting was a broad-based strength across both property types.”

For many buyers this won’t come as a surprise with more and more Brisbane suburbs cracking the million dollar median, according to realestate.com.au, including perennially popular Stafford, Carseldine and McDowall here on the north side.
