New PropTrack data has revealed Brisbane’s most tightly held suburbs. Aspley houses are held for an average of 14.5 years, placing us 10th on the tightly held houses list. Aspley units are held for an average 12.3 years, placing us 3rd on the unit list, reports realestate.com.au.
Overall, Brissie homeowners sell houses after an average of 11.9 years. This shows our preference for a long-term housing relationships, with only Sydney and Melbourne houses held for longer across the capital cities. Hobart homeowners are the least committed, moving on after 9.4 years in their house.
Tightly held suburbs are typically well-established, middle ring burbs and they are a great find for buyers for several reasons.
“They are often family-friendly ‘lifestyle’ suburbs, with good access to schools and green spaces,” reports realestate.com.au.
“Unsurprisingly, because properties in these suburbs transact less often, they tend to see relatively fewer sales than their sizes would suggest.
“With fewer opportunities to buy, this can help to protect property values – even in a market downturn.”
