Dogs are Australia’s most common household pet, reports the RSPCA, with 20 dogs for every 100 people nationally.
New data from the Brisbane City Council reveals the most popular breeds amongst our pet pooches and perhaps not surprisingly Labradors top the list, reports the Brisbane Times.
Amongst the rarest of registered fur babies was a German hunting terrier and a Peruvian hairless dog. Only one of each was registered with the council, compared to 9,500 registrations for Labradors.
While dogs might be a popular choice for pet owners, the same can’t always be said for property owners.
Landlords face a tough decision when deciding whether to make their property pet friendly or not.
Nationally, only one in 10 landlords allows pets, according to 2018 rent.com.au data.
