According to realestate.com.au more than four million homes and businesses are already connected to the National Broadband Network (NBN) with plenty more to come.
“High speed internet connection is a top consideration for homebuyers in new developments,” Naomi Read, general manager Demand Deployment at NBN, said.
“And for 80 per cent of buyers, NBN access is a key factor when either buying or building a new home.”
Anecdotal evidence suggests that it’s first home buyers are most keen on securing a house with a fast internet connection, particularly buyers with young children. And for Millennials keen on moving out and renting, top speed internet is a must.
However, Cribz chief executive Peter Esho says Brisbane’s connectivity remains “a bit patchy”.
“Having the NBN or fibre is no guarantee of a great internet connection, but as ADSL and cable connections age, the next gen infrastructure will become vital,” he said.
“A good connection gives you the ability to work from home, as well as entertainment like Netflix and Spotify. If you don’t have a strong internet connection, it can affect your quality of life.”
