Who are the lucky residents who’ll benefit from the cash splash?
If you live in Albion, congratulations, you’re in for a treat.
While Albion has a great village vibe packed with restaurants, a pub and a retail / commercial precinct, its train station is, let’s face it, just a little disjointed and not great for accessibility.
But Geon Property developers, with the support of the Queensland Government, have plans to change that, according to a recent statement.
“This project will be more than just a property development – our vision is to create a precinct that is a genuine destination,” said Geon Property Managing Director Ben Griffin.
“This project will be defined by a seamless integration of high-quality apartment living, retail, food and beverage outlets with genuine character, modern commercial offerings and vibrant public open spaces.
“It will offer access to Brisbane’s transport networks, integrating with one of South East Queensland’s busiest train lines, connecting to the bikeway network and providing accessible parking options.”
Construction will start in late 2019, focused initially on the accessibility improvements.
The Albion upgrade is one of several state government Transport Oriented Developments – or TODs – which will see train stations across the rail network get a mega face lift.
Ferny Grove train station is earmarked for exciting new retail and commercial facilities. Also on the north side, Mango Hill and Nundah are cited as future TOD sites.
