It’s full of quaint Queenslander cottages, trendy bars and restaurants, and hipsters saying ironic things ironically.
But for all its charm it has failed to hold its position as one of Brisbane’s million-dollar suburbs, according to the latest quarterly data from the Real Estate Institute of Queensland (REIQ).
Brisbane’s total number of million-dollar suburbs held steady at 14, but Paddington (or should we say Paddo) failed to make the grade, clocking up a median price of just $994,050.
This opened the door for Auchenflower to join the prestigious pack, with a commendable median price of $1,055,000. Not too shabby at all.
But let’s not get too big for our boots Brisbane.
According to Corelogic RP Data, more than half (almost 56 per cent) of Sydney suburbs have a median house price of $1 million or more. By comparison, just 5.9 per cent of Brisbane suburbs have a median house price in excess of $1 million.
And the biggest fish of all in the Brisbane pond is Teneriffe, which remains Brisbane’s only $2 million suburb.
