Chinese neighbours double property fortunes

by Kate Watt, Marketing Manager 3 February 2016

We hear a lot these days about Australia’s economic fortunes being linked to growth in China, and now it appears Chinese communities in Brisbane are also creating a wealthy ripple effect in their neighbourhoods.

Suburbs with large Chinese communities have experienced above average price growth compared to the greater Brisbane area, according to research published on Domain.

Robertson residents, of which one quarter are Chinese, have enjoyed stellar price growth of 19.3% in the past 12 months.

The Chinese-favoured suburbs listed below have also enjoyed strong price growth over the past year – on average more than double the growth of Brisbane South and the greater Brisbane area, Domain reports.

Property price growth over 12 months:

  • Robertson 19.3%
  • Macgregor 12.9%
  • Eight Mile Plains 9.4%
  • Stretton 13.9%
  • Calamvale 8.6%
  • Sunnybank 8.3%
  • Sunnybank Hills 8.2%

It seems like you don’t need a fortune cookie to tell you Chinese neighbours are a good omen for your property value.
