An overwhelming majority of property investors believe Brisbane is currently the most appealing capital city for investment, according to the 2015 Property Investor Survey Report released last month.

When asked which state capital represented the best investment prospects, more than half of all respondents reported Brisbane, with Melbourne and Sydney taking a distant second and third place.

Check out which capital cities investors say are hot right now:

  • Brisbane – 58%
  • Melbourne – 17%
  • Sydney – 11%
  • Perth – 6%
  • Adelaide – 5%
  • Hobart – 2%
  • Canberra – 1%
  • Darwin – 0.5%

The survey also showed 60% of investors planned to buy an investment property in the next 6-12 months, with a number of reasons driving their desire to invest in property.

Just over 40% cited long-term wealth benefits as their top reason for investing in property. Others believed property was an attractive investment choice now because of capital growth opportunities (19%), low interest rates (14%) and perceived safety compared to other investment options (10%).

The Property Investor Survey Report was conducted by Property Investment Professionals of Australia (PIPA). Read the full survey on the PIPA website.
