We can only be describing one thing: architectural homes taken to the most intriguing levels.
Three Queensland homes have made the cut for Australia’s National Architecture Awards.
Perhaps not surprisingly, given our climate, all three Sunshine State homes shortlisted for the Residential Architecture – New Houses award, feature designs that bring the outdoors indoors, reports realestate.com.au.
Fans of the TV show Grand Designs Australia will recognise the sweeping sails of Tent House, a $1.6 million home built in the Noosa hinterland rainforest. It was designed by Sparks Architects.
The home sits under a tent roof, open to the elements, which, on the plus side gives unfettered access to view the stars, but also gives access to all the rainforest critters.
The other Queensland contenders include Cape Tribulation House by m3architecture and Mitti Street House by James Russell Architect.

The winners of the National Architecture Awards will be announced in Canberra on November 2.
