#10 Suburbs where families are driving up prices

by Kate Watt, Marketing Manager 1 September 2017

Families in search of affordability and space are driving steady price growth in popular middle-to-outer suburbs including Upper Kedron and Cashmere here on the north side.

It’s a trend that doesn’t take too much explanation. As families grow their need for space increases but so do their living expenses.

Outer suburbs, with cheaper land costs and newer housing, offer families great value for their budget.

A CoreLogic analysis of the 2016 Census data has identified the 10 suburbs within 25km of Brisbane with the highest proportion of families.

Many of these suburbs are also experiencing above average price growth, reports realestate.com.au.

In Cashmere, five years ago the median price for a four-bedroom home was under $600,000. Now it’s in the high $600,000s, according to CoreLogic figures.

Over the same period in Upper Kedron the median price for a four-bedroom home has lifted from the $500,000 mark to $600,000.

Family friendly suburbs on the south side have seen the same pattern – check out the top #10 suburbs below.
